Plastic

Humans have long had a love affair with plastic, believing it to be the answer to our eco-prayers. My artworks reuse plastic materials in an attempt to raise questions about the relationship we have with plastic, and about its supposed sustainability.

Some of the plastic PET-bottle assemblages leave the individual bottles essentially unaltered, yet collectively the bottles create a new form, which will hopefully re-shape our thinking about plastic, and the often disastrous effect it has on our environment.

Other more sculptural works manipulate the bottles to such an extent that their original form is lost. No longer resembling discarded bottles, this transformation from refuse to artwork will I hope echo the transformation in our attitude towards recyclable products and encourage more responsible use of our resources.
