‘Progressions’ exhibition at Flying Arts Queensland Brisbane 25 June - 8 July 2026

I am thrilled to announce my next solo exhibition titled ‘Progressions’.

This exhibition is part of my prize from winning the overall prize from ‘Momentum’ Qld Regional Art Awards, Art For Life Solo, presented by Flying Arts.

the exhibition will be held in Brisbane at:

Festival House, Ground Floor, 381 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006

In this solo exhibition ‘Progressions’, I continue on from ‘For Annie Slade’ exploring and experimenting with mostly, but not entirely, with my enduring passions: a fascination with seaweed and the technique of chasing and repoussé in small objects and jewellery.

In 2023 I was awarded a dual Creative Research Residency at Umbrella Studio Downstairs & James Cook University Library Special Collections to look at the Annie Slade’s 1884 sellection of seaweed, which now form part of British Marine Algae Collection & now part of the Sir Charles Maurice Yonge Collection. This investigation sparked a creative dialogue leading to the development of these artworks. Studying her pressed seaweed specimens deepened my understanding of both her pioneering work and the enormous variety of marine algae.

The bowl shape references the global significance of seaweed as a potential food source.
